Privacy policy

This policy explains what information Ridetrain collects on this website, how we use it, who we share it with and the choices you have. When you buy, finance or service a vehicle with us, other notices may also apply, such as the privacy notice we give you when you finance a vehicle through us. The sign-in pages for our staff on this site are run by AutoDealer.io under its own privacy policy.
What we collect
When you contact us. Our forms (a question about a car, a test drive, the contact form, financing pre-qualification and trade-in values) send us what you type: your name, email address, phone number and message and, depending on the form, the car you ask about, a time you prefer, what you choose to tell us about your job, income, housing and credit, and details of your trade-in. The pre-qualification form is not a credit application, and we do not check your credit with it.
When you use the chat assistant. Your messages, and the car or page you are looking at, go to the company that runs the assistant (Anthropic) so it can write each reply. We do not keep the conversation on our servers, except a short summary when you ask us to contact you, which reaches us like a form. Your browser keeps the conversation on your device so it is there when you come back; the Clear button in the chat removes it. Your browser also keeps a list of the cars you looked at last, so the assistant knows which car you mean.
Cars you save, and car alerts. When you save a car, your browser keeps the list on your device; we receive it only when you open the Saved cars page, which shows it. On that page you can ask us to email you when a car you saved drops in price, and when cars like it arrive. We keep your email address, the cars you saved, the words you agreed to and when you confirmed, and a copy of each alert we send you. No alert is sent until you click the link in the first email we send you, and every alert has a link to stop them.
Automatically. Like every website, our servers receive your IP address and information about your browser to deliver the pages you ask for and to stop spam. We count how many times each car's page is viewed each day; the count is a number per car and records nothing about you, and your browser remembers for the day which cars it has already counted.
How we use it
- To answer you, and to arrange the test drive, financing or trade-in you ask about.
- To email you about the cars you saved, when you ask us to.
- To run this website, keep it secure and stop spam.
- To learn which cars and pages interest shoppers, so we can improve our inventory and our site.
- To keep the records the law requires, and to protect our rights.
Tools from other companies
This site does not use advertising or measurement tools from other companies.
Some content on this site comes from other companies, which receive your IP address and browser information when your browser loads it: our pictures from Cloudflare, the map on our contact page from Google Maps, and a car's video from YouTube or Vimeo when you press play.
Who we share it with
- AutoDealer.io, which runs this website and our customer records for us, and the companies it uses to host the site, deliver its pictures and send its emails.
- Lenders and finance companies, when you ask us to arrange financing.
- Anyone the law requires us to share it with, or when we must protect our rights or someone's safety.
Your choices
- Marketing emails we send you have a link to stop them.
- You can ask us what personal information we have about you, and ask us to correct it or delete it. Some state laws, including California's, give you these rights. We answer requests as the law requires, and we may keep what the law says we must keep, such as the records of a sale or a loan.
- This site does not respond to Do Not Track signals.
How long we keep it, and how we protect it
We keep information as long as we need it for the reasons above, and longer when the law requires it (for example, the records of a vehicle sale or a loan). We use reasonable safeguards to protect it, but no website or system is completely secure.
Children
This website is not meant for children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their personal information.
Changes to this policy
When we change this policy, we post the new version on this page with the date it was last updated.
